American Heart 9/11 Tenth Anniversary A Remembrance is a 9 x 12 full color “coffee-table” style book featuring 70 photographs of the spontaneous memorials, tributes and patriotic displays of American flags across NYC in the days following 9/11.
American Heart Productions of Springfield, MA announces the release of their book “American Heart 9/11 Tenth Anniversary A Remembrance”.
This book is a collection of photographs taken by Douglas Potoksky of Whately, MA in the days following September 11, 2001. Doug has photographs on display at various venues including the Smithsonian Institute, War Memorial for Women, and Ground Zero Museum.
The photographs are not of burning building, piles of debris, and injured victims, but of the spontaneous memorials, tributes and patriotic displays of American flags across NYC. They represent the sympathy, unity and patriotism that the American people felt in the aftermath of the tragic events of 9/11. These pages bring back the displays as they were in the days immediately thereafter fresh and vivid. This is a unique collection as these photographs captured the displays before time and weather destroyed them.
September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as one of the darkest days in American history. America was changed forever after this disaster. Ten years later the horrible events that happened that day remain a vivid memory to most Americans. For the families of the victims at all four locations, as well as the survivors, the grieving and healing is a continuous process.
In the wake of this disaster, there was a great outpouring of sympathy for all those who lost their lives on that fateful day, as well as admiration and support for the heroes who participated in the rescue and recovery efforts both uniformed and civilian on the ground and in the air. It was a true demonstration of the American spirit.
This book serves as a remembrance to all those who lost their lives and a listing of their names follows the photographs.
